Are bamboo straws biodegradable?

They certainly are! Jungle straws are plant based, fully compostable and can be easily recycled. When you have finished with them, simply put them into a recycling or compost bin, or get creative! Our personal favourite is to use them as plant stands or give them to the kids for homework and craft projects! We do however, strongly advise against using them as pea-shooters!

Can bamboo straws be reused?

Absolutely! Your Jungle Straws can be reused many times over if properly cared for and are a great alternative to plastic. Say goodbye to throw-away straws and start your plastic-free journey today!

How do I store them?

With every pack of Jungle Straws, we include two natural jute bags; one for holding your straws all together in one place, and another that fits inside a single straw. We want people to think and act consciously, so we designed the single straw case in order to provide a convenient solution to be able to carry your Jungle Straw wherever you go!

Can bamboo straws be recycled?

Jungle Straws are made from organic bamboo, which is 100% biodegradable. You can simply throw them away without worrying where they’ll end up and what damage they may be doing to the environment. However, our top tip is to use them in your garden as plant stands or give them to the kids for craft projects!

Who are Jungle Straws?

We are an independent UK based company driven to help end the damage that single-use plastic causes to our environment. Our values in eco-sustainability ensure that our bamboo drinking straws are not only beautifully handmade, but are also ethically sourced at rural farms in rural Vietnam, where we have personally overseen the entire manufacturing process from start to finish.

Why Bamboo?

Bamboo is fully sustainable, strong, naturally antibacterial and resistant to mould and mildew. It is essential in the balance between oxygen and carbon dioxide in the atmosphere. It grows to full height in under five years and can be harvested easily.

Can bamboo straws go in the dishwasher?

Yes, they are 100% dishwasher safe, but make sure to switch off the hot & dry function and dry them immediately. We also recommend using the cleaning brush provided from time to time to remove any trapped debris, and once a month washing them with boiling water and vinegar. Please visit our Care Guide for further information on how to clean bamboo straws.

How are bamboo straws made?

The bamboo is cultivated by hand, then it is chopped and filed into the shape of a straw. We believe in zero waste which is why we use the entire bamboo stalk. It is then left to dry in the sun to achieve a well balanced colour. Finally, the straws are pressure washed to remove any dirt residue, and engraved with the Jungle Straws brand name using a fine laser engraver.

Why bamboo straws instead of other alternatives such as metal or paper straws?

Metal straws can take up to 200 years to decompose, they are not biodegradable or organic and they will eventually end up in the ocean or a landfill site. Paper straws are an alternative, but they aren’t reusable and become wet and soggy after one use.

Are Jungle Straws organic?

Yes, bamboo is completely sustainable and biodegradable and our plant based bamboo straws never come into contact with any artificial chemicals of any nature.

How long do they last if used regularly? For example, in a bar or a restaurant.

One bamboo straw can be washed hundreds of times and each pack includes twelve straws. We expect them to withstand many months of continuous use before the need to replace them.

What is the length & width of a Jungle Straw & can I use them for bubble tea?

Each biodegradable bamboo straw is between 20-21cm in length. We use the entire bamboo stalk, thus each straw is a slightly different thickness. Some are great for smoothies or reusable boba straws, whereas others we prefer for juices and cocktails.
